Help Save the Southern University Music & Arts Department

SUPPORT THE ARTS!.. MUSICIANSHIP IS BECOMING A LOST ART FORM!

As a Southern University graduate, former member of the Southern University Human Jukebox Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Woodwind Ensemble, PROUD member of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity for Women and SESAC affiliate songwriter, this situation is very near and oh so dear to my heart!

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT?
The Southern University Music and Arts Department has produced many stellar and internationally renown musicians and artists. This is important because the degrees of future music education, performance and art majors will be jeopardized. Students pay for a quality education and that's exactly what the students of Southern University's Music and Arts Department deserve! If the Music/Arts department merges with other non-music/art programs, the quality of education will diminish and no longer be concentrated and specified. The students and university need YOUR help to achieve our goal and our goal is to insure that the rich music and arts tradition at Southern University continues to thrive and produce many successful musicians and artists for tomorrow.

Please take one minute out of your day to sign this petition. This isn't just for the past, present and future students of SU. This is for ALL who believe in keeping music alive! Pass this post along to your peers, family and colleagues. If the government begins to get rid of the music programs in our black college institutions, it will only become a domino effect and trickle down to our high, middle and elementary schools. Please, HELP! You can make a difference by signing this petition!
