Pandora Co-Founder, Tim Westergren (@TImWestergren) Speaks on Digital Media aka Internet Radio

As a partner in Publishing vs. Publicity with the Atlanta Director of SESAC, I'm real big on songwriters and producers learning about publishing and licensing. Today's music industry biggest streams of revenue are not coming from mechanical royalties (album sales) anymore. They are majorily coming from touring and now performance royalties from internet radio streaming. I know the business side of music can get a tad bit boring, but if you're in it for longevity and want to learn how to make money in your sleep then you need to up your game on publishing. Pandora is something we all use. About 70 Million people use Pandora every month, but how many of you knew that Pandora pays royalties to artists and licening fees to labels for streaming music?... Check out this video of Pandora's Co-Founder, Tim Westergren, speaking on his ideals of technology and digital media that can impact artists in a positive way. Pandora has 80 percent of internet radio market share.

Tim speaks on how he would like to see more competition in the market of internet radio. If any of you have bright ideas of creating an online internet platform, your consituents will welcome the competition!

Remember: The music biz is 20% music and 80% business. Educate yourself.
