I've been following this independent's artist work since 2008. Joe Cool, originally from Chicago, IL and also representing the great state of Louisiana, has proven to me over the past 3 years that he has what it takes to have longevity as an MC in this music business. The highly anticipated "Cooley Hi' mixtape, hosted by DJ Philly Nicks, shows me that Hip Hop is not dead in this new generation of Hip Hop. Joe Cool is a true MC, not just a rapper. The difference is a rapper gets on a beat and spits catchy rhymes that satisfies the current state of "hip hop." A true MC owns the track, conveys a message to his/her listeners and has all the lyrical capabilities to compete for longevity in this game. Joe Cool is pure talent proving his skills on this project as a MC and producer, producing 10 out of the 15 tracks. Every year it gets better. This mixtape is the perfect soundtrack with a smooth blend of Hip Hop and R&B. He shows off his production skills sampling R&B greats like Tony, Toni, Tone and John B. I love this project because its sound is relatable on the east coast, the west coast, the midwest and down south. I definitely give "Cooley Hi" 4 out of 5 mics...
Joe Cool, you've got THE JUICE!
